For the best time ever, come and join us on a fly-fishing adventure, fishing for wild trout in northeast Victoria's alpine high country. We provide you with accommodation, food, tuition, fishing gear – everything. Plan a weekend today, you won’t regret it, not ever!

We arrive at the Tawonga Fishing Lodge on Friday night in time for a delicious dinner before settling down for the night. Next morning at breakfast we can feed beautiful parrots, being careful not to get too close.

We then head for the nearby Kiewa River for some instruction in fly fishing basics for an hour or two, rewarded by a visit to the Mt Beauty bakery for some of their award-winning coffee. After that, we return to complete our fishing education before enjoying the contents of a bulging picnic hamper in the shade of an old weeping willow tree hanging over the river.

Following lunch, we take off for the Bogong high plains, elevation: 1650 metres above sea level, and fish the small mountain creeks that abound, each absolutely stuffed with wild-bred brown trout. These fish are very agile and will test your new fishing skills to the max.

We return to the lodge in time for dinner and the rest of the evening is yours to spend as you wish. Next morning we travel to a remote wilderness river, down bush tracks often studded with wombat holes. Your guide may be able to point out emus in the distance or trees that have been rubbed during the night by wild deer.

Once at the river, we stay there all day fishing for rainbow trout and brown trout and perhaps enjoy a bit of a dip to cool off before the long trek home. Once back at the lodge we can elect to stay for dinner and another night of restful sleep in pristine surroundings or choose to leave before or after dinner in order to get home before midnight.
