If you love the sound of blues harp harmonica music but don't know were to start, this harmonica workshop is the answer. Perfect for complete beginners, this fun, friendly and relaxed teaching environment will see you even playing a few songs on your own harmonica by the end of the course!

Have you always loved the sound of wailing blues harp music? Maybe you’ve tried your hand at playing the harmonica but you’re still trying to get that blues harmonica sound. In any case, our basic workshop will get you well on the way to blowin’ the blues!

Blues and folk harp music is fun, portable and best of all, it’s easy to play. This music course will cover all the fundamental techniques for playing the harmonica including effects like ‘blues rhythm train’ and ‘bending notes’. You’ll learn how to improvise and have fun on the harmonica in a friendly relaxed and fun environment. You’ll also learn the styles of Bob Dylan, Neil Young, Sonny Terry, Little Walter and Sonny Boy Williamson. This course is perfect for complete beginners and those with no musical experience as there’s absolutely no need to read music and you’ll even learn to play a few songs!

Your tutors, are amoungst the best Harmonica Players in the country. Doug Lyons is a leading harmonica educator and performer with over 20 years playing and teaching experience. Doug is a member of the popular Blues Preachers as well as a judge at the Tamworth Golden Harmonica Championships and the musical director of The Sydney Harmonica Festival. Other Facilitators in various states across Australia include Chris Wilson (Renee Geyer/ Paul Kelly/ Diesel), Ian Collard (Backsliders/Collard Greens & Gravy) and Roj Cufone (The Jam Jets).

The course includes a harmonica talk instructional CD and a Hohner harmonica, as well as complimentary ongoing support after the course to ensure that you’re given all the help you need to be the best harmonica player you can be!

This class operates once a month, usually on a weekend. The course is 5 hours in duration. We recommend that you book well in advance. All bookings are subject to availability.

Guidelines:

Perfect for beginners, this experience is suitable for almost anyone who is looking to learn how to play the harmonica. Minimum age is 7, must be accompanied by an adult.

Numbers:

The price quoted is for one person. We operate with a maximum of 10 people in the group.
