Sailing Experience On A 40ft Luxury Yacht

Experience Code: DSS741

Description

This product is sutable for people with Sensory Impairment - Hearing - click for more information.

Sailing to Port Phillip Bay is a fantastic way to trial sailing. This three hour experience offers you the option to sit back, relax and watch the scenery change or you can get hands-on and help sail the luxury yacht down the Yarra River to the bay.

Your experience begins at the meeting point at Waterfront City in Melbourne's Dockland area, where you'll be met by your skipper for the day and escorted to the yacht, Veeword.

Once on board, you will receive a safety briefing and be shown round the yacht. Our deck hand will cast off and you will begin the 45 minute trip down the Yarra River to Port Philip Bay. During the sailing experience you'll be given the opportunity to steer the boat and the Skipper will point out the places of interest along the river and answer any sailing related questions you might have!

Once in the bay, the crew will raise the sails and switch off the engine. At this point, you will have your first taste of real sailing - the silence, the gentle glide of the yacht through the water and, of course, the view of Melbourne from the water. You will even have an opportunity to take the helm and to assist with the sail changes as required. Alternatively you can just relax and enjoy the sailing experience whilst taking in the views and the fresh sea air.

We sail for approximately 90 minutes (60 minutes on evening trips) before returning to the Yarra River for the return trip. As the yacht makes it way back to Docklands, there will be plenty time for taking photographs of the city, enjoy a complimentary glass of champagne and experiencing the sights and sounds of the river while chatting to crew about the type of yacht you are now going to buy!

Venue:

Docklands, Melbourne.

Valid For:

1 person

Guidelines:

Absolutely no sailing skills are required to come on one of our trips. This experience is not suitable for children under ten years of age. The trip will be as physical as you want to make it or, if you prefer, but you can just sit back, relax and enjoy.

Numbers:

The price quoted is for one person. We have no minimum number for our trips and operate with a maximum of ten people. There will be two crew members on board, comprising of a skipper and a deckhand.

Weather:

As we operate from the Yarra River we are less weather dependent than if we operated from a marina on the bay. In the unlikely event of cancellation due to weather, we will reschedule your experience for a later date.

Session Length:

Please allow three hours for the morning or afternoon cruise and about 2.5 hours for the twilight sail. This experience operates seven days a week, 52 weeks a year.

Extra Info:

We operate an Elan 384 yacht, manufactured in Slovenia in 2006. All our crew are qualified under Marine Safety Victoria’s rigorous certification scheme. The boat itself is operated under survey from the same body.
