What is the Experience?

Dread team events? Not any more! Now you can look forward to bonding with your colleagues or social group in a ‘hands-on’ cooking and team building event where sushi-making provides the focus and aids in fun and professional development - suitable for almost anyone!

Engage your team’s mind and all their senses with this unique combination of team building and sushi making! We know everyone loves good food and it’s a fail-safe, sure-fire way of getting you and your team looking forward to learning, motivated and enthusiastic!

Inspired by the Japanese philosophy of working in harmony and with respect, you’ll integrate and master your team building skills to prepare a sumptuous Japanese meal. But before we roll out the sushi mats, our facilitator and presenter will take your team through the fundamentals of what makes a successful and effective team. We provide you with program materials which emphasise practical and relevant knowledge, which is immediately useful. We then test out the theory with a fun and interactive team exercise.

Afterwards, we take a break with coffee or some traditional Japanese tea and try some Japanese snacks to get your team in the mood for cooking, Japanese-style! Then, it’s time to don your own chef’s hat and apron (yours to keep!) and under the exclusive tuition and guidance from a traditionally trained Japanese cook, you and your team will learn the delicate art form of sushi making.

You will discover that cooking is more than just food. It symbolises learning, sharing, experimentation, discovery and the importance of time, which will help in achieving your team’s goals.

As a team, you’ll prepare sushi normally only cooked in Japanese households, which may include a selection of:

Norimaki
Inari
Chirashi and
Temari Sushi

Be initiated into the delicate and intricate world of Japanese cuisine. Your Japanese cook will introduce you to the different varieties of sushi, demonstrate the preparation of the staple ingredients and how to use a sushi mat to create that perfect sushi. After the last sushi has been rolled, you’ll reward your appetite as you sit down to experience true Japanese dining culture.

Session Length

Please allow approximately 3 – 4 hours for the experience. We’re flexible, so you choose a date that suits you and your team. We suggest booking at least 4 weeks in advance. All bookings are subject to availability.

Guidelines:

What we love most about cooking is that regardless of age, gender or fitness levels, everyone can get involved. It’s a true leveller! You don’t need to know one end of the chopstick from the other – all you need is a great attitude, fully functioning taste buds and a healthy appetite.

Weather:

This experience generally takes place indoors and is therefore not affected by the weather. If you have chosen an outdoor venue, please have an alternate indoor venue on standby in the case of poor weather.
