The delights of caving will be revealed during this introduction to caving, an experience that’s perfect for beginners! Located just 90 minutes out of Melbourne at Yarra Junction, you will explore granite boulder caves during an epic underground adventure. Discover the intrigue of caving in one day!

On the day of your experience we will either pick you up from Melbourne or meet you at Yarra Junction. From Yarra Junction we will take you in our shuttle vehicle up a winding dirt road to the secluded cave site.

Once at the caving site we will give you a safety briefing and you will prepare and put on your caving equipment.

Feel the excitement build as you climb into this truly wondrous underground world. You are about to explore a maze of underground caves!

In these caverns under the earth you will find phosphorous worms, cave crickets and, if you’re lucky, your way out!

You will be caving in a unique granite boulder cave system, one of the very few that is located in Victoria. Within the rocks you will be able to see the story of historical land formation.

There is even an underground stream that flows gently through the cave!

With several entry and exit points and about three different levels to the cave system, there’s so much to explore! Come and discover what caving is all about!

A picnic lunch is also provided.

Venue:

Yarra Junction, approximately 90 minutes east of the Melbourne CBD. Pick-up is available from Dandenong or Ringwood, Victoria.

Guidelines:

You will need to have an average level of fitness and a bit of flexibility to participate in this experience. You will also need to feel comfortable in the dark and in spaces that you might have to crawl through.

Numbers:

The price quoted is for one person. There will be a minimum of two and a maximum of 12 participants on the day. We operate with high staff ratios and small group numbers as per the Adventure Activity Standards.

Weather:

Caving takes place underground and is therefore not usually affected by the weather. In the case of extreme weather conditions we may need to reschedule your experience for a later date. The water levels of each cave system are checked by a guide before the group enters.

Session Length:

This experience generally takes place once a month on the weekend. However we will make arrangements for alternate dates with groups of three or more people. We get to Yarra Junction at 10am and leave at 3pm, arriving in Melbourne around 5pm. You will be caving for approximately four hours.
