What is the Experience?

Start an oral history for your family today through a professionally produced documentary on DVD. It’s a gift that will reach out to numerous generations of your family for many years to come. We combine interviews, family photos, footage and music to tell the life story of a special family member.

Imagine if you could see and hear your great grandparents talking about their lives. Imagine your own parents recounting special stories from their past to yet unborn grandchildren and great grandchildren. Imagine giving your family a sense of place, a sense of people, a sense of belonging.

You choose the life story subject (maybe your mum, dad or grandparents) and we will spend two days with them capturing their story for posterity.

We will artfully combine their story with key photos, memorabilia and music to create a DVD that will become a true family treasure.

The Life Story will take upwards of a month to complete because of the intensive editing process we use to craft your presentation. This is in addition to the pre-interview preparation (where we ease interview nerves), and the two part days we spend with you and your family.

This is a truly priceless gift for your family and we deliver your DVD (and a second copy for safekeeping or sharing) with champagne, flowers and popcorn!

This package includes:

Pre-interview meeting with our production team,
Two, part days of interviewing in the Sydney region,
Digitising of photos/memorabilia for inclusion,
Music licensing fees,
Editing processes, &
A 40 minute DVD with one additional copy with personalised labels.

PLEASE NOTE: Additional costs may be incurred if you would like to convert old family footage (eg: from 8mm) for use in the DVD. You may also opt to have more copies of the DVD produced for an additional cost.

Venue:

Sydney, NSW. We will come to your home to interview you.

Session Length

From our first meeting, your life story may take as long as 3 months to complete to ensure all material is included. Although, a more realistic time frame is 1-2 months. We like to consult you often during the editing process to ensure you like what you are seeing & hearing!

Guidelines:

This is a special gift suitable for any family member. If you are giving this life story to a family member who is ill or has been diagnosed with Alzheimher's, please rest assured that we treat all our subjects with the greatest sensitivity and respect.

Numbers:

Once we have met with the subject, we will be able to determine if the person alone should tell their story, or if briefly interviewing other family members would be an asset to the picture.

Weather:

We like to film indoors in an area of your home with good natural light and in an area minimally affected by noise.

Other Info:

We are as comfortable interviewing in a nursing home and hospital situation as we are documenting an able-bodied, world-travelling 60 year old who still has 40 years to rack up (in which case you can call us back to do Part II).

Suitability Information:

This experience is suitable for people with a mobility impairment & / or a sensory impairment. A sensory impairment may limit the persons ability to wholly engage in the DVD when completed.
