The Flinders Ranges, a timeless landscape, filled with fantastic adventures and the perfect surrounds for your camel ride, a half a days drive from Adelaide.

Departing two hours before sunset, this tour is the perfect opportunity to absorb the stillness and timelessness of Australia’s oldest arid mountain range.

As a warm breeze brushes by, you will be amazed by the subtleties of fragrances, the dry earthy smells from the north mixing with the honey fragrance of the grass tree flowers as you ride past.

Your guide will have your mouth watering as he tells you how to make cordial out of the Ruby Saltbush you’re passing, or points out the seed pods of the Acacia Victoreii, used for thousands of years as a food source by the Australian Aboriginals and today used for it’s fantastic coffee-like flavor.

As the galahs and cockatoos begin their raucous calling before settling for the night, the sun sinks behind the rim of the towering Dutchman escarpment.

The first stars wink on in the evening sky as you complete your journey, two hours after departing.

This experience operates from Quorn, this is a 40 minute drive north of Port Augusta, and a 3 1/2 hour drive north of Adelaide.

Guidelines:

No riding experience is necessary. You will be joined by one of our guides so you don’t need to worry about anything – just enjoy yourself! Don’t forget to bring your camera.

Numbers:

The price quoted is for one person. There will be up to twelve other participants on your camel ride with you.

Weather:

This experience may be cancelled during or immediately following periods of heavy rain. We will endeavor to contact you, however if in doubt please call. Any cancelled rides will be rescheduled for a later date.

Session Length:

Camel rides depart daily, approximately two hours before sunset. Exact departure time will be confirmed at the time of booking. Please allow approximately 2.5 hours, this includes two hours riding time.

Extra Info:

Your adventure will be more comfortable if you remember to wear long pants and closed in shoes. Don’t forget to wear sunscreen in summer and you can wear a peak cap under your helmet (supplied). Also bring along a water bottle. Note: Cancellation fees apply to this tour.
