Description

Yacht racing involves an afternoon of fun and excitement on board a fleet of luxury yachts to take part in the popular Saturday Social race. This is a great opportunity to put your skills to the test and be part of a crew as we race around the natural landmarks in the harbour.

Yacht racing is serious business and requires much organisation. Assembly is at our base from 12.30pm. Upon registering you will be allocated to the yacht for the afternoon. After the general briefing at 1.00pm participants will board the yachts and receive a short safety briefing from the skipper.

Yachts then proceed to the starting area, usually farm Cove next to the Opera House. Sails are hoisted and participants are given instruction on the crewing duties. All on board are encouraged to have a go trimming the sails and steering the yacht (subject to weather conditions). Alternatively, relax and enjoy the experience. During the race the yachts will be passing many famous landmarks, historic building, islands and beaches. Re-boarding back at the base at approximately 4.00pm.

You can come on your own or put together your own team. No previous sailing experience is required. After the racing you can also stick around for a refreshing ice cold beverage at the Docks Hotel in Darling Harbour (food and drink not supplied).

Guidelines:

No previous sailing experience is required. Full training is given on board by a fully qualified Instructor.

Weather:

Postponement is only due to adverse wind conditions and not rain at our discretion. Refer to booking conditions.

Session Length:

1-4pm – (Includes general briefing and safety brief once on board). Available on the 3rd Saturday of every month.

Extra Info:

All yachts are in full NSW Waterways Safety Survey and our skippers/Instructors strictly comply with the manning requirements of NSW. We use state of the art luxury Hunter & Beneteau yachts, appointed with full safety equipment, refrigeration, gas stove, hot water facility, electric flush toilet.
