If you have a passion for steam trains then this experience gets you up close and personal. All the sights, sounds and atmosphere of an authentic steam train journey will take you back to another era. You will be welcomed aboard as VIP guests of Victorian Goldfields Railway.

Your experience starts as you are welcomed aboard as special guests of the Victorian Goldfields Railway. Sit back and relax as you take a historic journey from Maldon to Castlemaine on the former Victorian Railways Castlemaine to Maldon Broad-Gauge Branchline in the Mount Alexander Shire.

You will be provided with a glass of local wine and light nibbles to enjoy on your steam train journey. On your return leg, one lucky participant will have the privilege of making the journey up on the locomotive with the loco crew which adds a unique and exciting extra dimension to your steam train experience.

Venue:

Maldon (Central Victoria). A 90 minute drive from Melbourne.

Guidelines:

Any adult can participate. The Loco Ride has a minimum age of 16 years for participants.

Numbers:

This experience is for two people. Although there will be other passengers on the train.

Weather:

Weather does not interfere with journey , except on days of extreme fire danger, when a diesel loco substitutes for steam.

Session Length:

Trains run on all Sundays, Wednesdays, Public Holidays and School Holiday Saturdays. A mutually suitable date and time needs to be arranged between participants and the railway to ensure availability and that catering can be arranged. The train journey takes 75 minutes.
